  • Rapid Antigen test
The tests detect specific proteins — known as antigens — on the surface of the virus, and can identify people who are at the peak of infection, when virus levels in the body are likely to be high. This test is very accurate but not approved by most airlines for travel.
  • PCR Swab Test
This test is to detect if you have active viral SARS CoV-2 using Real Time (RT) Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). This is the most reliable way to detect for the coronavirus.
  • Rapid Antibody Test
This test is used to detect whether or not your body has antibodies for the SARS CoV-2 using fully automated chemiluminescence immunoassay instrument. Because this test only detects for antibodies you will need to do the viral test to see if the virus is active or not.
  • Flu/Covid Combo
Uses the same technology as the PCR swab. Test available to determine whether you are currently infected with COVID-19, influenza, or neither one.
  • NAAT Testing
ID NOW™ is a rapid, instrument-based, isothermal system for the qualitative detection of infectious diseases. Our unique ID NOW™ isothermal nucleic acid amplification technology provides molecular results in just minutes, allowing you to make effective clinical decisions sooner.

Also know as…
Diagnostic test, viral test, molecular test, nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), RT-PCR test, LAMP test
Rapid diagnostic test (some molecular tests are also rapid tests)
Serological test, serology, blood test, serology test
How the sample is taken…
Nasal or throat swab (most tests) Saliva (a few tests)
Nasal or throat swab
Finger stick or blood draw
How long it takes to get results…
Same day (some locations) 24-48 hour guarantee
One hour or less (15-20 minutes)
Same day (15 mins)
Is another test needed…
This test is typically highly accurate and usually does not need to be repeated
Positive results are usually highly accurate but negative results may need to be confirmed with a molecular test
Sometimes a second antibody test is needed for accurate results
What it shows…
Diagnoses active coronavirus infection
Diagnoses active coronavirus infection
Shows if you’ve been infected by coronavirus in the past
What it can’t do…
Show if you ever had COVID-19 or were infected with the coronavirus in the past
Definitively rule out active coronavirus infection. Antigen tests are more likely to miss
Diagnose active coronavirus infection at the time of the test or show that you do not have COVID-19
